1.) Tools are a major focus in this class. Though many things can be completed by hand tools are often necessary. In creating artwork what type of tools have you used? In using these tools how did they help your work along? Explain their function and purpose. I didn't do too much clay, mostly paper and cardboard, but the tools I did use were mostly cardboard cutters, box cutters, scissors, etc. They made it much easier to shape my pieces and make them stand out. Most of them were simply for cutting.
2.) How has your knowledge and understanding of tools changed since the beginning of the semester? Talk about your growth of understanding. I didn't really understand the function and use of tools, especially clay tools before Pottery. Now I know most of the tools and what they are used for, and can quite easily use them myself.
3.) What was your favorite material that you used this year? Why do you like working with it? My favorite material was probably the cardboard. I really liked how I could play with the texture, shape and colors of it. Its also an inexpensive material, and is easy to find and buy.
4.) Which project was your most successful? Describe the theme and or topic and the process you went through to complete the project. Probably the wood burning piece. I was first going to burn an image of the Goddess of Earth, but I completely messed up that project as holes were being burnt through the entire piece. Then, because I had so many printed images of him, I decided to do Naraku from Inuyasha. I got out a smaller, sanded square of wood, and began transferring the image. After that I was able to carefully burn the lines. 5.) What is a technique you used in your artwork that worked well? Explain what technique it was and why it was successful. Mostly how I choose different mediums and how I made my art more "anime" like. Most of the other kids in the class didn't do those kind of things so my artwork stood out. Especially when I did the Ink Demoness or Naraku. I colored my cardboard and burnt an image onto wood which wasn't being done in the class by anyone else.
